This is actually part of a female intra-sex competitive strategy called enforced equality. If they can convince other women that striving for a good looking man isn't nice then they will have more opportunities themselves. Of course when they try to use the same tactics on men to try to get them to drop their standards it's immediately clear how ridiculous and oppressive this is.
