TL;DR - Hamline University of St. Paul, Minnesota has fired an Art History instructor over "hate speech against Islam". The offense? The instructor offered an optional breakout session to discuss a historical, Islamic made painting that depicts the prophet Muhammad. A conservative Muslim student got his or her knickers in a knot over it, prompting the university's President and its DIE coordinator to respond that "respect for the observant Muslim students in that classroom should have superseded academic freedom."

Turns out that not only was the painting important in the context of Islamic art, but it was done to venerate Muhammad. And, not all sects of Islam consider images of the prophet to be verboten. Just another example of cowardly so-called "academics" eschewing history in favour of snivelling histrionics. Congratulations to the aforementioned execs at Hamline University. You are December's Retards of the Month.
