The level of pure, unmitigated, shameless LYING in the world today is just mind-numbing!

In a move that hits this sub's trifecta of being simultaneously retarded, gay and crazy, the gay pride committee in my neck of the woods decided to take their balls and go home because the local library didn't cave in to a petition that demanded it in essence burn all copies of the book Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters by Abigail Shrier.

Why this is retarded: The gay rights movement has benefited worldwide by others' embrace of openness and their rejection of the idea that another person's closely held beliefs should be forced underground just because the person in question might be saying something the majority does not agree with. Now that the tables are turned and Halifax Pride has a whiff of power, the magnanimity others have shown them does not seem to be a shared principle.

Why this is gay: Not because it's the pride committee. No no. This is gay in the sense that the book in question cautions against trans-sex surgery for female children. In the article we have grown-ass men in dresses pouting over the fact that this somehow debates their existence as trans identifying people. How much of a narcissist do you have to be in order to twist the book into this kind of a debate?

Why this is crazy: In North America, it's no longer a debate as to whether gay people should be afforded the rights of everyone else in the populace (and that's a good thing in my opinion). Why in god's name would you want to open up a wedge to reignite anger toward the gay community by trying to ban knowledge (even especially knowledge you disagree with)? The fact that such an idea is batshit crazy is as blatantly apparent as the five o'clock shadow sported by the stunning, brave, and altogether mentally stable individual who started the petition.
