This one's from last year. Some fragile intern was on a call where a respected Canadian journalist was talking about a story and quoted someone else using the word "nigger" for context, wrongly assuming that everyone on the call was a trained reporter and a professional. How wrong she was. The intern freaked out and went to the press, who all proceeded to dog pile the reporter to show how woke they all were. Links to articles about it here and here. The journalist was then suspended and investigated.

So, what would be a good word to sum up this situation, the oversized reaction of reporters, and the general societal fragility that argues a single word (used in context and not as a direct insult) on a closed telephone call "re-traumatizes Black and Indigenous people and people of colour"? I'm interested in everyone's suggestions.
