Unbelievable. Apparently 26 US states have laws like this, most likely due to lobbying and pressure from AIPAC and associated groups. Also this passed completely unanimously, so it has 100% bi-partisan support. This is a clear signal of who really owns our government and law-making processes.

Geepers, in another Intercept tweet it is mentioned that Hurricane Harvey victims also had to sign such a thing in rder to get relief and assistance? wtaf is happening?!

Yeah and then later officials played dumb like "oh how did that get in there, that was a mistake."

So in the moment after a hurricane when people are the most vulnerable, they're made to sign contracts pledging a lifetime of allegiance to Israel in order to get the support they need to survive. Extremely messed up.

The Pflugerville Independent School District included new language in their contracts this year requiring that employees “will not boycott Israel during the term of the contract,” and will refrain from any action “that is intended to penalize, inflict economic harm on, or limit commercial relations with Israel, or with a person or entity doing business in Israeli or in an Israel-controlled territory.”

This is NOT the same as signing a pro-Israel oath. FAKE NEWS.

This is akin to a pharmacy employee being required to not refuse service to, say, someone wanting a morning-after pill because they're Christian, or a grocer being required to sell ham (that the store carries) despite them being Muslim.

It doesn't force action or allegiange to Israel. It simply forbids certain anti-Israel (BDS) behavior. BIG difference.
