It's not my opinion.

I actually haven't watched it.

In truth, I am a huge fan of the pretty face of Jenna Coleman. I don't know if she's a good actress or was good in the series or what. So I saw another video on why she was almost good. I posted it and this video too, because it was a common item of interest to many.

The last Doctor Who I actually watched was Tom Baker, as a kid. Not even a pretty face can convince me to dedicate hours to this fantasy show.

Fair enough. Not everyone is a sci-fi geek like me, and not even every sci-fi geek likes Doctor Who. As for Jenna Coleman, I've seen her only in Doctor Who and Victoria, but my impression is that she's a pretty face, but not a convincing actress.

I was actually anticipating the female Doctor. Not enough to pay attention to when it came out. But before I heard about all the bad reviews I was totally prepared to join in with her story, and maybe go back and see Jenna's too. I'm against 3rd wave feminism nonsense but totally support women, rights, representation, etc. but if it can't perform that's not reason enough.

I used to love love love sci-fi when it was good enough for me.

Getting older I've found the world to be more interesting and complex and not much Sci-Fi reflects that.

And now the only Sci-Fi that I get really excited about is hard-science fiction. Not sci-fantasy with weird exceptions for gravity or vacuum of space, or lasers and monsters. I like stuff that at least tries to maintain a modicum of reality. Sure I love the Avengers. But I wish there were more movies like The Martian (though it had many flaws too). Europa Report is a fantastic one too, with another pretty face.

Yeah, me too. As I've gotten older, it's about time. I'm no longer willing to read sci-fi novels (or literature in other genres) if I'm not feeling like it's worth the time and trouble.

I still read a lot of sci-fi novels and see some sci-fi movies, but not so many as I used to. The Avengers was the last superhero movie I saw, and it was good, but ... there are so many superhero movies, I feel like I've already seen enough.

I'd say, though, give the new Doctor Who a chance. At 45 minutes a pop, I felt every episode oj Whitaker's first season was worth my time and attention.
