It's an enjoyable watch.

Most of his takes on it are bad.

If you get loads of Hollywood actors in something they will just play their persona, not actually act. That's not what you want for a fantasy. Every successful fantasy show has mostly jobbing character actors or if there is a famous person they are not recognisable as their star self.

He doesn't get British traditions of elves. They can be bad and mischievous as well as being near spiritual beings. They aren't Marvel drones, they don't have superpowers, they live normalish lives but more refined. He's projecting his own beliefs and expectations onto something outside his frame of reference. Even if you argue it's bad from a story point of view, that is why you end up with everything ending up looking the same in Hollywood movies. They don't like nuance and think their way of seeing things is the only way.

I actually like how unlikeable Galadriel is. We get so many characters now who are just great because they are born that way is nice to have someone who's an arsehole and gets good through having a cause which drives them to work hard. I think he's missing the likelihood that she has actually fucked up and brought the evil back into the world so she is in part the anti-hero and not supposed to be all round amazing or even a decent person.

Really, they complain when we get female characters who just turn up and are wonderful then when you get one who's grey or mean or a fuckup they can't take it. They think it must be a mistake, women just can't be that way. Fucking niceguy simps.

Whelp, you're entitled to like terrible. That's your right.

One thing name Hollywood usually can do is act better than most of this cast. Nori Brandifoot is the only engaging cast member because she's not hyper-focused on Galadriel and she's doing things one expects someone in her position to do. Elijah Wood was famous, so was Viggo and Sean Astin and definitely Ian McKellan.

Last time I checked, the British tradition of Elves included traits that made them less human. Race swapping them makes them more human, which isn't the point unless you're a driven ideologue instead of looking to tell the best story.

Things in Hollywood look the same for the same reason RoP sucks. Most productions are a money-grab where there's a giant pile of money and everyone is grabbing at it until the money's all gone. Whether that's salary or perks or press junkets. This bloated budget most likely caused everyone working on it to lose focus. When you work on creative endeavors, it is possible to get lost in endless retakes and developments, especially if you don't have a vision. Evidence suggests that this is the case. The only vision that I could see was the insertion of the message at the expense of almost everything else.

Galadriel grew up in a time where there was no death. Her character wasn't a warrior and they didn't bother to give us even a short montage of show her becoming one. She's just great immediately at everything, while at the same time incredibly dumb because she apparently had to swim thousands of miles back to shore. Which makes no sense. All could've been avoided, but I don't think they care about those details. Only the message matters.

The problem with Galadriel is she's not a character, she's a vessel for the message. It's not Tolkien's message. It's the producers who continue to insist it's Tolkien's.
