I don't care for or against LGBTQI+ agendas, 2nd 3rd or 4th Wave Feminism, nor identity politics, etc. and I find they will often ruin entertainment. However, I'm perfectly fine with it in entertainment when well written, properly produced, nicely handled, intelligently, interestingly, and with purpose, such as in this show - seemingly as I have yet to see it, but I will shortly, on the recommendation of Bernadette Banner who loved the period clothing: /s/VintageFashions/comments/6icq/5_historical_films_that_got_the_costumes_right/

Some of the fun of period pieces is discovering a world through a dynamic and "different" character who doesn't quite fit in. Naturally it's all foreign to us, the viewers, but the established norms of those worlds are expressed through the interactions of the characters within - especially when reacting to the odd-man-out, so to speak. When reading Don Quixote years ago I mused at the characters saying to the effect of "My how odd thou does talk" when to me all of their ye olde English sounded crazy to me. Another good example of an odd-duck out of water is The Adventures Of Baron Muchausen. I hope I'm not disappointed by this series.
