Wow...this is really disturbing. Even more disturbing that this has been happening, and this is the first I've ever heard about it

tl;dr: a giant company with the resources to make a credible allegation told the FBI something bad happened. The FBI exercised the

blatantly unconstitutional

practice of civil asset forfeiture to take the family's money. The family was never allowed to know the charges and the money was given back without explanation 2 years later.

To me, this seems like time to take that pile of cash and sue amazon. better yet, tell the family's lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis and keep it all but fuck amazon as much as possible.

Amazon is very convenient, but by using it we are complicit in this kind of shit. I will make stronger effort to not use it.

I'm still a bit hazy on the details, but while reading, I got a sinking feeling that this will be used to seize property en masse. As the WEF notoriously stated, 'you will own nothing, and you will be happy'
