Sounds like clickbait. They're still shipping out orders, just prioritizing seller's items that are medical supplies that are shipped to their warehouses. In other words they're stocking their warehouses with medical supplies before other items.

Are you sure? It says this:

on Tuesday that it's suspending shipments of all non-essential products to its warehouses to deal with the increased workloads following the coronavirus outbreak.

They're not just de-prioritizing the non-essentials, they're suspending shipments for them to warehouses entirely. Then once those warehouse reserves are depleted, the items will no longer be available for purchase I think.

That's what the article says, I think they're misunderstanding.

We are temporarily prioritizing household staples, medical supplies, and other high-demand products coming into our fulfillment centers so that we can more quickly receive, restock, and deliver these products to customers," the message said

Amazon just announced they'll be hiring 100,000 more employees yesterday due to demand. I guess we'll see.

I think you are right actually.

Here it is straight from the horse's mouth:

I see no mention of the word "suspending". I think you're right the person who wrote the article misunderstood amazon's press release. Glad we were able to get to the bottom of that.
