Lots of egyptians (especially the christian ones) are ethnically greek. Maybe a bit of mixing, but it's still easy to see.

In the past the people around the Mediterranean were far more related to each other than the peoples inland. Sea travel was just much more safer and faster than over land. So they would have all pretty much looked alike and been interrelated. The difference between north Africa and the European Med only came about after Islam and Christianity divided them.

greeks are a melting pot, some of them are darker than some people in the middle east...
