It's really funny to me how the folks in this movement talk out of both sides of their mouths. They say "everyone's attracted to us but won't admit it" and also that "all these bigots don't want to have sex with us and they're starting hate movements about it."

    Much of the violence against trans people happens in the context of trans people who are involved in prostitution, just like women involved in prostitution often become targets of violence. It's a hazardous job.

    Statistically, trans people as a whole are not any more likely to be targets of violence than any other member of the general population.

    By themselves, of course (suicide), but still, that's a pretty high rate of violence.

    I think the 40% rate was suicide ideation from an online survey of mainly trans teens, I recall. I'd bet the percent is similar for people suffering depression tbh.

    These numbers change year to year, but as a ball park estimate from the stats I've seen: The rate of trans people murdered is about 2 per 100k

    For women, the rate is about 3 per 100k

    For men, about 6 per 100k

    For both transwomen of color and black males, about 35 per 100k

    For prostitutes, about 200 per 100k

    No. Some women back on the GenderCritical subreddit did a deep dive into murder statistics and found no epidemic of trans homicides. In fact, as I said above, they found that trans people as a whole did not have any significant risk of homicide based simply on being trans. Where the numbers diverged were where you brought race into the equation, so for trans women of color, their homicide rates track with their race being the significant factor. In contrast, for white trans people, their homicide numbers were lower than the average for the general population in the U.S.

    Of course, posting analyses of data like this was part of the reason GenderCritical got banned.

    The epidemic of trans homicides is one of the myths they've invented.

    Don't trans people make up less than 1% of the population? Most people won't have sex with over 50% of the population, and probably a good deal higher (unless they're desperate). They're quibbling over a tiny fraction of who a given person won't have sex with.

    They are such an insignificant group of people, I think most people don't realy care, so long as they stay out of the wrong bathrooms and stay away from children. The problem is that they CAN'T stay away from the children and instead want to enable government to come between parents and children and enable that abuse. Which is what people have a problem with.
