I didn’t leave the left. The left left me.

Same. There is nothing "liberal" about today's left.

The socialist left has always been this crazy, unfortunately.

Previously the classic liberals covered up for them but now they've been exiled to the right.

These people are scum.

They lay all the evidence out for you.

They'd happily see their neighbours be lead away.

"I heard they were bigots so it's perfectly reasonable."

"Oh yes, perfectly reasonable."

It really is pathetic. They are all so afraid of wrongthink that they can't stand up for something that should be as black and white as supporting rape victims. Aside from the OP, the one voice of reason in there has "Independent" as their user flair.

Something like 70% of the women that the Vancouver Rape Relief Shelter helps are indigenous or women of color too.

No no see, it's perfectly fine because men weren't the centre of attention.

The amount of hemming and hawing here is so disgraceful. I've been a leftist all my life, and I'm disgusted by my party's direction.

I hate how they censor something then say all the shit they want about it (e.g "nazi 4chan movement") because the people they just censored can't contest or represent.

Years ago, I was renting a room from a woman who worked at the same restaurant where I worked. It was her house. We got along really well, and it was a good situation. I'm a gay male, so there were no complications. We would go hiking with her dogs, talk about books, etc... But then one day, she came to me very apologetically and said she was going to have to ask me to move out because her daughter needed to move back in. There was enough room for all of us, but her daughter had been raped a couple of years before, so her daughter didn't feel comfortable with a male-bodied person in the house -- even a gay male.

So, did I argue and make a scene about it? No. I told her I understood and moved out because I understood that that was the decent thing to do.

Vancouver Rape Relief offers a sanctuary for rape victims where they don't have to deal with male-bodied people in the same space. I get why that's their policy.

Now, someone could set up a rape shelter specifically for transgender people. But that's not the way Team Trans works. Anything for women that's not for trans women has to be shut down because, according to TRAs, women are not allowed to have sex-segregated spaces for any reason, even reasons that should make sense to anyone who thought about it.

Apparently, some people tried to set up a trans-only shelter in the UK and the trans community there rejected the idea outright because it wasn't validating enough.

      https://streetvoiceuk2020.wordpress.com/2020/06/19/a-trans-womans-observation-into-the-madness-of-the-trans-debate/

Around 2015 I secured a £500,000 donation from an 80’s pop mogul if the trans community raised the same amount for what would have become the UK’s first trans exclusive refuge. This would have come with services including medical advice, housing advice, trauma advice including domestic violence, rape etc. This was also going to offer temporary housing for 12 trans individuals for up to 6 months. A building was found in the centre of Birmingham.

In fairness some radical feminist women and other left leaning women were happy to help with securing grants and doing all the paperwork. A female lawyer offered her services for free. All this would have saved a lot of time and headaches.

On putting forward this plan to to the trans community they declined this outright. It was nothing to do with the service. They wanted to use women’s services as a means of passing!

They get really mad when you tell them to make it for themselves. They aren't happy unless they can take it away from women.

"Super straight" is a 4chan bigoted anti-trans trolling meme. Period. I don't see any use in indulging their attempt at plausible deniability. It's the same bullshit attitude behind four years of Trumpism.

Seems pretty cut and dry in this particular instance in that if they want to receive public funding for helping women, then they should be using those funds to help all women, not just the ones they deem "eligible" for shelter from rape and homelessness.

Ok, so what you're actually trying to say with this long, waste of time thread is that you are transphobic and don't believe transwomen are women.

The first 10 years of reddit started out pretty great. After 2015, only people who love censorship remained.

Now you're apparently required to believe there can be a female penis, or you're literally a Nazi. How can there be real humans who think this way?

Most days, I'm pretty scared of this world. It wasn't always like this. I agree - reddit was truly a shining beacon of freedom of speech before 2010, really special stuff. I'm far out of touch with these strange meaningless opinion duels that seem to be erupting everywhere, and I'd rather just chill out and play games and read books and be peaceful (on my own if I have to, like today). I guess this world is just getting more and more twisted. I couldn't agree more, it's surreal and off-putting to whatever sanity I may have left in me (sometimes I don't feel it is much). I am truly worried of the ravages of gender dysphoria, I think it has world-ruining potential because of how internal emotions are quickly externalized, falsely attached to others (targets) and then these "inverse witch hunts" happen, like they're looking for someone to murder, as if that will solve their now deeply complicated internal nightmare that they have forced into the world. Frightening shit...

The far left want to rape, rape and rape. Rape your wife, rape your children, rape you. They can't have these rape shelters helping victims. That's why they want to put people into camps. Free rape.

At least some light in the darkness. And by Darkness, I mean- thick blinds shut tight at Noon on a sunny day, intentional Darkness.

Why do they lie about this? It's not a meme. A subreddit springs up saying it's valid to say no to people you're not comfortable dating and that consent is good and you think that came from 4chan? Are you high?? And as an anti-Trump, anti-GOP Libertarian I resent that last statement. Superstraight was diverse. More diverse than any of the LGB subreddits overrun by T. And reddit banned it.

Yes, and I think that was the problem. People of all races, sexualities, and political orientations were coming together to unite against a common foe. We were starting to find our political power. They couldn't allow that.

starting to think that "T" is really the "P" especially if they are consumed with hatred towards women and keep calling them TERFS. Many of the "T" that have this as a theme are pedophiles. Too much of a coincidence.

Apparently it was the only of 11 shelters in the area that was sex-segregated. The others allowed trannies in therefore men could be in the women's areas. Not exactly a good idea for rape victims.
