I think Gruden's emails were dug up as part of the investigation into the Washington Redskins investigation of sexual harassment by the former management. It goes to show that you never put into writing or on video anything you don't want everyone to read, hear, or see.

I think also though they wanted to get rid of Gruden, he had a big 10 year expensive contract and this was year 4 but he kept losing. How can they get rid of him when he has a contract, get something that goes against it, I mean he probably has a clause in there where you can't say controversial things or whatever. They will probably have a lawsuit over it but this gave them a reason at least. Owner of the raiders is also likely losing money, they moved to Las Vegas where they likely lost money on building their arena.
