Here's a short video (no real audio) that explains it well too:

(oops, this was supposed to be a 1st level comment, not a reply. Oh well.)

Much appreciated nonetheless. BONUS! I would have missed it otherwise. Thanks.

That's an inherent flaw of Reddit/SaidIt. On the CorbettReport.com forum you can comment and choose to 1) get zero notifications, 2) get notifications about responses to your comment, 3) get notifications about all comments on that OP.

I thought about deleting the comment and reposting it top level. But if I remember correctly, here on Saidit if you delete your post it stays there and just changes the poster to [deleted]. So I decided we didn't need the comment twice.

I did not know that. I assumed that was from admins deleting or someone deleting after someone had commented on it. I know there's a user named "[deleted]" who is always using different aliases and then deleting them but somehow able to keep the posts and comments up.

Maybe /u/magnora7 and/or /u/d3rr can clarify?

deleting a link post just hides it from everyone, deleting a text post replaces the text with deleted, deleting your account replaces your username with deleted. and something for comments..

Thanks for clearing that up!

So it's all kinda permanent? Maybe kinda like a blockchain but not? I kinda gleaned it was kinda like that as the wiki is very similar. Just stacking immutable versions. I wonder how many corrected comments I've made are buried.

yes, from a user perspective the stuff is permanently gone. our db still has it but it won't be shown.

"Where in hell are we?"

"I don't know. I was just following you."

"What? But I was following you!"
