I compiled a list of mainstream and alternative social media sites, along with their Alexa rank (from today and from a couple weeks ago) to get an idea of the state of censorship and alternative social media.
I've categorized the orientation of each site as per its owners' ideological slant or stated slant; IDW = Intellectual Dark Web (disaffected liberals), MRA = Men's Rights Activists (including MGTOW and PUA). I've also given an indication of the type of social media each site is.
I've classified the censorship on each platform in terms of Banned/Restricted/Quarantined/Permitted for leftist and rightist speech.
- Banned - Certain common forms of leftist/rightist expression are expressly forbidden on the platform, for example hate speech rules, or rules that forbid promotion of premarital sex.
- Restricted - Certain forms of expression are either forbidden and not enforced stringently, or are allowed but not if expressed in a certain way. For example rules that state you mustn't claim a group is "inferior", but you are allowed to say they are fat, ugly and stupid on average.
- Quarantined - Expression is not restricted, but certain types of expression are blocked from public view on the site. For example, saidit.net has subs in https://saidit.net/subs/notall excluded from the main page.
- Permitted - Free leftist/rightist expression is permitted on the site.
In summary, the largest social media platforms are by far oriented to the left, with draconian hate speech policies that punish rightist expression. Next are foreign state social media sites, which are not all friendly to rightist pro-American thought. Notably, there is no American state social media, since corporations form the state in America. Next are a lot of libertarian-oriented sites. Importantly, there are very few explicitly rightist sites, and those that are right-wing tend to prohibit other forms of right-wing expression. Overall, there is no counterbalance to the censorship of right-wing ideas - sites either ban "hate speech" outright, permit free expression, or permit a subset of right-wing speech. Alternative social media sites seem to be growing; for example BitChute gaining from #2375 to #2304 over the last couple weeks. This does not appear to come at the expense of larger social media sites, though, which retain an overwhelming share of the market.
there doesn't seem to be anything here
