This is how the CCP is kept in check, by cutting off their tendrils in technology and manufacturing. Easier said than done, given existing international dependencies, but good for India in this instance. They are no friends to their regional neighbors, the West, or even their own citizens - so long, Hong Kong.

Now if only they could learn to use toilets

They do use toilets

You're probably referring to how they used to poop anywhere and let the 'untouchables' clean it up. Pretty sure both of those hardly happen now.

How so? The government spent $38 billion on making sure every single one of them had access to a toilet and the streets are still filled with shit. There have been lots of people interviewing the locals on why they don't use em and the majority of them view it as disgusting. It will literally take generations to make these people accustomed to a fucking toilet.

That's not the story I see when I look into it, but maybe I don't have sufficient visibility into specific states or something. Can you link such a story?

I read it from https://www.factchecker.in/110-million-toilets-built-but-claim-that-india-free-of-open-defecation-not-true/

The government's claim that India is cleaned up is a straight up lie. The toilets they built (or never followed up on for some) are poorly done and clog frequently in addition to some Indian's never using them in the first place.

Well shit. That is quite a multi-layered bungle. Thanks for the info.

Are they afraid of the competition? I remember all those articles about how India uses privacy invading technologies forced upon its citizens.

I don't think it's competition so much as the software is literally spyware for the Chinese government, and that's been proven pretty robustly

Nobody argues that, but I believe the average Indian citizen spied upon by his government has little worry about the Chinese spying on him.

Maybe, but if it's on enough phones then it will be on some military phones and so on...
