The sad/funny thing is how this is based on such a myopic US-centric bias. Who is in the "majority" and "minority" shifts from region to region, and even over time as evidenced by different election outcomes.

So if you're in a South Africa subreddit, it's perfectly OK to disparage black people?

Makes perfect sense in reddit world.

The youtube channel Time Ghost History has a series of videos called between two wars, about the turmoil in Europe that led up to the WWII. It is amazing. Basically every country, new or old, had to deal with the hatred between majority populations and minority populations, not just in the country but by region and city. Outside forces then manipulated them to create divisions where there might have only been minor differences.

There is a good chance shit's going to get very ugly, in very predictable and catastrophic ways.

I left reddit right after I read the new rule. I seriously disagree with hate/stereotypes/racism from ANY angle. How the hell can't they see this is wrong? There is a serious lack of critical thinking and ethical reasoning behind this new rule.

When I try empathy in regards to reddit, my only thought is that it must be money driving their decision. If not that, then some other devious entity is at play. It could be that they are just downright racist themselves? I don't know.

The weirdest thing about this is that white people are the minority 'race' in the whole world. Sure there may be countries where there are large populations but overall, white people are the minority. So according to their new rules, it's a-okay to hate on black people!
