When people talk about minimum wage, they should identify the reference point. You can absolutely live off minimum wage in most places if you compromise on where you live and how you live your non-work life. I think the standard of living has risen so much that people assume "living" includes all the extras we've become accustomed to.

Does your definition of "extras" include running water and electricity? Cause that's what me and my family had to "compromise."

No. By compromise, I mean settling for a neighborhood that may have some issues or having roommates.....having to settle for an older car or taking public transportation.....being frugal when it comes to eating.....having hobbies that are free.....cutting back on non-essentials. By extras, I mean cell phone above a basic plan, cable tv, eating out, etc. More than the basics.

I've literally done all of that.
