it's become more of a thing for upper middle class or rich folks, as a kid without much money going to movies was a big thing I did, popcorn and soda was too expensive then but I just didn't get any, brought in food from outside, and tickets were like $5 back then which I did have. Also snuck in to a lot of movies. Nowadays I'm rich and can afford it but there aren't that many good movies these days. I did just go see the new ghostbusters movie, it was alright.

When I was a kid movies were dirt cheap and so were the snacks. Just about every kid in town was at the theater on Saturdays. Even the poor kids. Of course our coins were silver. A dime for popcorn would be worth about a dollar now.

yeah true inflation has been insane not just this year but the last like 15 years. I guess movie tickets aren't essential so it doesn't matter that much, just a shame.
