Saidit, the last bastion of free speech. But for how long?

Reading this gives me the fuzzies. Until I wonder why no other site I use does these...

So they were compromised and are properly not posting them anymore.

Exactly, their canary died.

A little off topic but how goes the DDOS attacks? They used to be front page news now we hear nothing!

Has the new coding worked that well? Are they still going on at all or have they give up?

Just wondering.

Pretty light on the DDOS these last few months since we kicked out IP2, thankfully. Plus our automatic anti-DDOS measures I built myself have really been helping a lot, so they've mostly given up trying the DDOS route because it doesn't work anymore. So that's a good bit of news

You say this but you removed Ice Poseidon 2.

I believe that May be Evidence of a “free speech prohibiting sanction”. Could it be?

[–]bobbobbybob 3 insightful - 4 fun3 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 4 fun -  (8 children)

not at all "absolutely cockball prohibition" seems more like it. A bunch of hobos moved into the basement, then decided to use the place to annoy the world, then took the piss when we asked them to settle. Good riddance

[–]Layman 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (7 children)

It appears the removal was due to failure to conform to censorship. Is there any evidence to the contrary?

[–]bobbobbybob 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (6 children)

you are asking me to disprove an unproven supposition.

You prove it was due to censorship....

Then I'll get off my arse and prove you wrong, which is easy, as its all documented.

You are the one who has to prove your position.

[–]Layman 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (5 children)

I believe I am asking for discovery. Any one kind enough to help out?

They had doxxed and/or were harassing someone irl...something...something, the hosting company got involved with the complaint.

But yeah, Boobob summed it up more creatively.

[–]bobbobbybob 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

they even went nicely, in the end. Found their own server, free of silly things like 'site rules'. good on them.

[–]Layman 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

who specifically is they? what was the form and nature of the alleged harassment?

[–]Zahn 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

I don't know exactly who "they" were. I would guess just a handful of bad actors, not necessarily regular members of Ip2. Nor do I know the nature of the doxxing and harassment. They complained to Saidit's host, which in turn threatened to shut down Saidit unless Ip2 was removed. Hosting companies are stupid.

I'm sure Mags knows all the juicy details.

The courtesy is appreciated. It seems the public domain is lacking firsthand testimony.

[–]SaidOverRed 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

No. It was a practical move, although yes that is pretty close to the line: 'sorry guys you have to go elsewhere'. Basically it was the only way to be accepted at our hosting company, as I understand it. It had nothing to do with divulging information.

[–]BigNoseFloyd 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I've been noticing more and more removed comments in threads in all

Eh. Onto the next one.

[–]SaidOverRed 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Unwillingly, but yes. They were wished well elsewhere.

[–]nonidentity 2 insightful - 3 fun2 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

i could report you to the better business bureau, if that would help.

BUT YOU DIDNT MENTION THE NEW WORLD ORDER!

HAVE THEY CONTACTED YOU? WHAT ABOUT THE ILLUMINATI?

HUH? HUH?!

Wake up, sheeple.

[–]SaidOverRed 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

There we go. That's the ol' saidit spirit!

He copy-pasted this from somewhere, i bet.

I bet even further: Without using emacs.

Of course he did. Do you not know what a canary is?

      [–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

You wouldn't get a joke when it kicked you, i bet.

      [–]eh-non-plus 0 insightful - 1 fun0 insightful - 0 fun1 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

this isn't a canary and wouldn't hold up to even a mild scrutiny from federal law admins

      fwiw

      [–]raven9 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

If you even knew what a canary is and what it is for you would also know how stupid your comment is.

      [–]eh-non-plus 0 insightful - 1 fun0 insightful - 0 fun1 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

A canary can only indicate the lack of information. In this case their "canary" is providing information.
