SaidIt Public Service Announcement:
Preference Settings > Messaging & Content Options
Are you getting ALL of SaidIt?
For EVERYONE on SaidIt, new and old.

Last year I started introducing my neighbours to revolutionary new ideas, and some were already well on their way. I've finally got some looking at SaidIt content and signing up. Helping them set up I was reminded of two features...
On SaidIt you all have your own customizable user preferences.
Within the first "options" tab I wish to bring your attention to 3 items marked in red:
1 Messaging Options
Everyone has a "messages" icon beside your username in the top banner of every page on the right. It took me a few months to discover there is an preference option to uncheck that stops your conversations from disappearing every time you check your unread messages, thus giving you control of what is read and unread. In the screenshot above I marked that with a red bar.
2 Content Options
There are 2 front pages of SaidIt - one that only includes your "Subscribed" feeds or subs, and the other that includes "All" (except the private subs, the NSFT (not suitable for work) subs, and some other feeds that are not on "All" for reasons (too busy and would drown the front page, not politically correct, not looking for attention from everyone good bad and ugly, etc).
The default is "Subscribed", so unless you've changed it to "All" you are NOT getting the full SaidIt experience, nor are you being exposed to the many wonderful subs you might also appreciate.
Compare:
/s/All
/s/Subscribed
Even if you don't like the vast variety of subs in "All", I recommend you try it out for a while, now and then, just to collect a few more subs to subscribe to.

3 Save !
Be sure to save your options or they won't be applied.
My janky computer has issues and I could fix my "friendly" Photoshop but my GIMP image manipulation still works. We should all migrate to /s/FLOSS (free libré open-source software) applications and I hope you can excuse my adequate but not expert use of GIMP above.

Let me know how I can improve this post.
