You reminded me of a US saying that news people use "if it bleeds, it leads." Extreme content certainly does get attention and votes, and maybe gives people a little in-group to belong to.

But extreme positions aren't usually actionable and can't move us forward. Not that everyone even cares about that.

The mainly problem is they want to feel the connection with others in a low cost way,but it's actually useless. I am thinking how to building the connection with others...the right way. It seems the true cost of building a united ,peaceful community is extremely high actually and a whole generation didn't pay for it. For example:It requires go to church every week in 18 years. Humans are mostly aggressive, they use many methods in traditional society to reduce it,like :everyone living in a small town and monitoring each other.

They are crazily addicted to these groups (and also like that on Facebook),I think it's because it's the simulation of hunter-gatherer society, the number of a group is small, the thought of them is simple and single, extremely unfriendly to others, they are going back to the primitive society on a digital world.

I see the effort of u/magnora7 remove these those content with too much offensive, which is good. But doing that would let most people gone because we don't simulate the stupid hunter-gatherer society. And I don't know how to fix this ,as a generation ,we lose too much. Maybe both of yours decided remove these fools from Saidit. But this won't help people attach to this site,I think maybe you can set "self post" to replace "hot" by default to try to made users more connected to each other,it just a suggestion ,anyway.
