Are you saying people don't bother researching topics? I agree sources are good, but I would hope the people of Saidit would look for more information through other means instead of blindly believing the contents of the article OP posts.

I talk the talk, but I honestly don't research stuff either. I spend upwards of 10 minutes composing replies, sometimes, instead of noticing that the reason I'm taking so long to phrase my comment is because I'm suffering severe cognitive dissonance.

Sadly, though, the things people need to research the most are the things that are Obviously Right. I've not got a chance of deciding to research those things, and it'd take at least two months of work to turn myself into a person who would.

The ten minute effort you put into your replies is definitely beneficial. I find my posts/comments often sound like I'm having a stroke. I do a lot of edits to my stuff after they have been submitted.

Honestly, two months to change your mindset into becoming a more educated person is a no brainier. Most people would kill to have the quick adaptability your brain apparently has.

When you put it like that, it does seem like the obvious thing to do. Even though it's just forming a relatively small habit.

I respect this post, on the note of 'obviously right' though, wouldn't it stand to reason anyone selling a shell game would try to cover the 'obvious' things necessary to sell the con? A good con artist would; why can they not occupy seats of power; especially since deception is their strategy, and game?

There's no reason they can't occupy seats of power. I've no doubt that there are politicians etc. like this; that's been known for hundreds of years. (I like to think they're not all like that, though.)

I respect this post as well. Anyone can choose to present information; giving all pertinent facts, or not as they see fit. The idea that today not all facts are disclosed, and individual people somewhat tend to report in an entirely subjective viewpoint matter, doesn't really show anything lacking, or new. What's new is the amount of information.

The new calls to 'fact check', and present a 'balanced' story, casts a light on in my book, is the deceptive subjective viewpoints the MSM has been using for decades before the Internet. They are the ones losing their audiences; they are the ones being shown up by single people on Youtube. The Internet just points out the other viewpoints on a single subject, sure with a lot of speculation, but the information is there for all to discern for themselves.

It's time to turn off the autopilot, and think, and decide for ourselves individually.

it's not so much that people don't bother researching, it's about transparency.

It's they just take a convenient small piece of information that fits a narrative and leave out the rest even if it significantly contradicts the point they were trying to make. Probably the most well known recent case was the Covington case, where they take a pic of a video and build a narrative about it.

Oh right. Yeah okay, I see where you are coming from.

However, It would probably be a pain to verify the credibly of certain sources. I can imagine some people skirting round the rule by using sources which conform to their views.

Another example, imho would be the 'fema coffins'; their size simply dictates something other than 5 man burial boxes. How liners could be construed as something else is strange.
