Brand New Here

Hey guys, I've recently moved over here from Reddit because the incessant censoring of absolutely anything was starting to get on my nerves. Like come on they banned r/waterniggas and that was a satirical subreddit about making sure you drink enough water. Obviously while this is a replacement to Reddit, there's obviously a different culture. So while Reddit is a primarily left wing site that claims to be all about freedom of speech (as long as you're only saying what the mods deem appropriate), what sort of culture exists here? Is the site primarily right or left wing? Is debate and polite discourse allowed or is it a blatant violation of some insane echo chamber rule like in Reddit? Thanks for any knowledge about the site by the way, it always sucks being brand new.

Welcome. Most of us came from reddit. Right and Left are an artificial construct (see: Hegelian Dialectic) so we are neither. Upvote the picture below your post and have a good time.

They didn't ban r/waterniggas, they quarantined it. You can still access it if you accept the scary prompt on a computer. I've also heard that you can accept it on your phone in desktop mode or something like that, not very familiar with phones. I think you might need to have the option to see 18+ subs enabled, too. Not sure.

It being quarantined basically killed it, since it'll get almost no new people, posts will get almost no attention, etc etc. The only Subreddit I know of that didn't shrivel and die after being quarantined is r/CringeAnarchy, because Reddit bans tons of subreddits for being even a little kind of vaguely like it, so they just migrate over there when that happens.

PS RIP r/BoomerGrill, the best sub in all of Reddit.

Using clients to get away from reddits excessive trackers on mobile don't let you visit quarentined subs :c

Reddit has way too much tracking shit, so came here, or does this place have excessive trackers too?

I just made the switch here after hearing about r/WaterNiggas. I'm tired of modern internet culture, censorship, political correctness, and blatant left-leaning mods on Reddit. Hopefully this site has a brighter future.

what sort of culture exists here?

I'm stumbling through figuring that out myself right now. Seems like they want a r/truereddit type vibe and the only dissident materials must be source driven like some of the more respectable in the truther movement. Admin doesn't seem to want this to be a meme culture place.

I'm new here as well, "immigrated" from reddit. They are going too far with banning anything unfriendly to their ad-overlords. I don't believe anything extreme, but believe if I'm not a dick to people, they won't be a dick back.

I'm looking forward to spending many hours on this site, and am especially looking forward to seeing it more populated.

Reddit is not left wing, they are terrorists. I'm left wing and was just fine with the vetting process. Reddit is owned by China now so, yea. Plus we let people own land here and buy it all up? Germany owns the turnpikes by me....ummmm ok....makes no sense even to me.

This is the quality content Saidit was founded for. You're talking about all manner of conspiratorial political nonsense seemingly out of nowhere, and no one is going to tell you to shut up.

I think this site is still very young, and obviously it's for anyone who prefers a less heavy-handed approach to moderation. I'm new here too, interestingly for the exact same reason. r/waterniggas was an in-joke, and had zero racial commentary, and they banned it just for using a naughty word. They've gone over the edge. It's not even policing opinions at that point, it's a V-chip that automatically flags language like club-fucking-penguin and that is a recipe for blandness in my book.

I don't think censorship (or opposition to it) is itself a left- or right-wing issue, so the conglomeration of various folks who come here to get away from it don't necessarily (or perhaps don't yet) fit into either camp simply by virtue of being here. Hopefully it stays a mixed bag. We'll see.
