Works as intended! 10/10 adjustment.

Nice adjustment!

Great stuff. Lookin sharp.

I don't have a phone but am a little curious how many use the mobile mode. Not too important except for mobile mode:

SaidIt now does SVGs now right? Maybe add new icons?

I could even design some for/with you. Maybe you see some stock version that you want but don't want to pay for I could emulate it closely.

Stumbled on this one that I could easily adopt the idea with the new logo idea, with a lightbulb and smile instead of the S if you want.

(The S version could be for the new sub alert down the road. Maybe. Or something else.)

Thanks! Not sure how many use the mobile site, probably 1% or so. We do indeed do SVGs now. We might do new icons, I'll think about it. Thanks for the offer.

How about the app(s)?

I'm guessing there's a difference from the mobile version.

Yeah the apps have their own graphics and stuff, we don't touch that too much

How much traffic does that use? Is there a way to break it down? A stats page? Be interesting to follow, ie. make it evident the iOS app will be a success.

tbh the only real indicator we have is here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.saiditnet.redreader

where it says 500+ installs. Other than that we have no real data about it

I guess that would be cookies or something?

Is there an ethical way to ping anon stats? Like type of use, browser version, RSS version, app version, etc?

Is it even worth your time?

I'm quite sure there'd be little nuggets of interesting info in there. Not necessarily to exploit but stats can be good just to know.

For example, I use my Brave browser. Also I also have Thunderbird doing the RSS feed thing on new posts and new comments, as a potential partial archive and search option should I get desperate to find something lost in time. I also set up my old Feedly to pull those same 2 feeds. Not necessarily because I use Feedly anymore, but because it at least knows SaidIt exists where it didn't before - and now others using the old Feedly thing can have it as an option should seek more feeds. It's not a huge thing, but all these little things add up.

We could set up tracking systems to generate stats, but it's literally a 20+ hour project and it just doesn't matter that much tbh. We've already got a fair number of indicators and our time is stretched thin, so we don't see the value in it. Plus it just adds more things to load, slows down pageload time, etc

I thought there might be some auto-stats already built in.

I guess when you take on ads it might be worth it.

I have nothing against ads. They are what they are. Even if you used Google's AdSense I wouldn't hold it against you, though I'd hope you'd find more independent alternatives and/or ethical ads.

Ads could bring in funding for more coders, not staff but, maybe as a bounty per task. Never to rely on them, only to build. And when the big crash comes, you won't have a staff to let go or strange admin requirements.

I do want to restore the built in sub traffic stats. That might have a break down by browser or app.

I much prefer volunteer coding with no ads. If no one wants to help then the platform is dead and we should all move on. Luckily, we're getting much help and have at least 5 coders working in the SaidIt ecosystem.

I dig this change, but let's drop the parenthesis around the domain/sub name?

[–]magnora7[S] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

yeah I think that's not a bad idea, or change it to brackets. I'll look in to it, but I was actually having trouble finding where exactly in the code those parenthesis are

lookin good!

A+++

It's the little things. There's nothing bigger.

[–]magnora7[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Ohh okay I see them now, thank you. I just overlooked them, I didn't realize they were plaintext instead of function parenthesis. I'll remove them now
