We've looked at alternatives but none have really grabbed our attention. I don't think we'll get booted from patreon but it is a possibility that we're prepared for

Crypto is really just an online fiat currency, where the money creation rate is governed by a math forumla rather than people, and the the ledger for all transactions is shared publicly (this ledger is what they call 'the blockchain'). Hope that helps
