I'm not sure if a limit of post per day per sub would work well. Each sub would need to be able to decide how much is too much.

personally i dont mind if i am limited to x posts per hour in a sub as much as limited to write replies to comments to one every ten minutes. that just kills it for me.

One every ten minutes? Wow. Total mood killer. The main reason I don't think a time limit on posting would work is that there are some subs with only 1 or 2 people actively posting, with others just commenting. I only get an hour or so free time with my current schedule, so I'd rather post a bunch in that hour, and check on it the next day. Not all people are that busy though, so perhaps it would work well.
