Today we're announcing a slew of minor upgrades:
The box that comes up when you click 'report' on something is now relevant to the saidit rules and has a working link to the content rules for anyone to read. It now has an option to report "Dragging down discussion on the Pyramid of Debate". It just flags things for the mods and admins to look at, so don't hold back if you feel something doesn't fit in.
Every sub has a wiki, and now editing it is easier than before. We've moved the wiki tools box up to the top of the top of the wiki page. Try it out a wiki edit here in this test wiki, which you can also see the complete history of: https://saidit.net/s/OpenWikiTest/wiki/index
Chat would occasionally give a 521 cloudflare error and completely crash in the browser. This was due to an issue that we've since reconfigured to prevent the chat app from getting overloaded. So it shouldn't randomly become unavailable anymore. We have set chat log history to clear every 1 hour for guests and every 48 hours for logged-in saidit users.
We now have a functional email server, which we enabled recently and sent our entire backlog of emails in one big burst. So if you got an email from saidit recently, that's why. An email is not necessary to sign up, it's just used for password retrieval if you lose your saidit password.
Other bug fixes include a bug that would hide the voting buttons in your inbox if the browser window was narrower than 600px, now it always shows the buttons. We also added more supported filetypes to the expando functionality (the button that expands the media to show it in-page)
And make sure to check out our new AlternativeTo.net page here and leave a review for saidit: https://alternativeto.net/software/saidit-net/
Spreading the word about saidit is the only way it will grow!
And lastly I'm happy to announce saidit is financially solvent for the first time since it began 16 months ago. The donations through patreon and cryptocurrencies are matching our total expenditures, so there is no more out-of-pocket loss for myself to run the site. It's actually community-funded, for real! This has been the dream since the beginning, and it's exciting to see it come to fruition like this. Thank you donors!
Thanks to everyone for all the help, and as always if you have any questions or comments please post them below!
