I already use RedReader for Reddit, so the fact that this is ported to SaidIt is a real delight. Thanks for your work and for this useful information.

/u/d3rr (our other admin) did that port and I agree he did a fantastic job with it. Glad to help!

And here's saidit's welcome message if you haven't seen it: https://saidit.net/s/SaidIt/comments/37r/welcome_to_saiditnet/

And the terms and content policy, if you're interested in the particulars of what's allowed and what's not: https://saidit.net/s/SaidIt/comments/j1/the_saiditnet_terms_and_content_policy/

Probably not interesting to very many users, but I've published a webapp frontend for Saidit on the Ubuntu Touch Openstore.

Wow that's really cool! Thank you for taking the initiative to do such a thing! /u/d3rr check this out

Much appreciated, that is really out of the blue and unexpected. You're a model saiditter :)

Not a big deal, its a pretty quick process. I need to fine tune it a bit and add some suburls for In box and profile when I get a few minutes.

For the 3 users that run UBTouch that have ever logged in :)

That's great! Even if it's just 3 users, that's 3 more than before :)

Way cool. You got a screenshot? We'll add it to the list of Said it apps.

Dude I had no idea that Ubuntu Touch was supported on so many phones. I'm super jealous, I have a preorder in for a Purism linux phone but it's a ways out still. Damn I had a working Nexus 5 until a few months ago, I could have been using this.

Anyway thanks again for making a SaidIt app.

[–]ikidd 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I just picked up a couple of shitty Nexus5 for $40 off "some guy". I've been happy enough with it to use as a daily driver, but it still has some quirks.

I'd like to go the Purism route but I don't really like spending a lot of money on a phone that's going to end up in a lake of cowshit like my Nexus did yesterday.

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah I gave purism way too much money but I really want them to succeed. Hopefully I'll be good to go until the third or fourth Librem is released.

Sorry your phone died, sucks.

How can I make /s/subscribed to be my default view?

[–]magnora7[S] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

We are developing a user option to do exactly that. Hopefully we'll have it out in a week or two at most.

Will there be a Saidit Enhancement Suite in the future? :D

[–]magnora7[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Already done! But it's still in development mode a bit. Try it out!: https://saidit.net/s/SaidIt/comments/je/res_for_saidit_supports_chrome_opera_firefox_and/

Not exactly a FAQ, this almost finished encyclopedic article may help you understand many things about SaidIt : https://infogalactic.com/info/SaidIt

Just putting this out there - I'd use this site waaay more if RES was ported here.

I love it when this happens

[–]Admins 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Damn, no porn allowed. Should've sticked that policy on the frontpage.

[–]hijodeosiris 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Does the site has something similar to RES (reddit enhancement suite) ?

[–]magnora7[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yes we do! But be aware that installing it will completely overwrite and erase all your old reddit RES settings, it's a known bug.

But if you're ok with that, here's the link: https://saidit.net/s/SaidIt/comments/je/res_for_saidit_supports_chrome_opera_firefox_and/

[–]jmphasemc 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

So how are comments sorted?

[–]magnora7[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Same as posts. The default is 'top' which just means whatever has the most points. Insightful is +2 points and fun is +1

[–]Fly 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Can reddit take legal action against this website for being so similar? I'd hate for it to become a proper competitor and then get slammed with legalities.

[–][deleted] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Sure they can bring a case but open source is open source, no takebacks. Well not with most licenses.

[–]Fly 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Ah okay, good to know.

Newbie question: I want to unsubscribe from a few subsaidits, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how. "... the default opt-out way, where you just remove things from your subscription list as you browse /s/subscribed (the link for this is at the very top-left of the screen)." That's where I am, and I see no unsubscribe buttons. On Reddit, there are subscribe and unsubscribe buttons on every subreddit's home page, but I don't see those on saidit either. Probably my own denseness, but I'd appreciate a patient nudge. Thanks.

[–]magnora7[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

You're right, there should be buttons next to the subs while viewing /s/subscribed, but the unsubscribe buttons themselves are in your sub editing page. You can view this by going to saidit.net/subs or clicking the "edit subs" link at the very very top.

Let me know if you have any more questions and I'll be happy to help!

[–]antikarma98 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

OK, I'm a dummy. For some reason I had the unsubscribe buttons blocked via adblocker. Everything's fine now -- sorry.

[–]magnora7[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Ah cool. Someone else had that issue as well, I don't know why the adblocker apparently hates our unsubscribe buttons so much! Glad you got it fixed. No ads here anyway :)

@prostadine I admire the author's ability to make complex topics easy to understand.
