As saidit admin I just want to say that I agree with you here. But what do you think the reaction should be?

I, as an admin, can delete it. But a key part of saidit that's different from reddit is that we don't have admins and mods going around deleting things arbitrarily. I could make an argument about deleting it due to the low quality of the information, but I've never deleted anything for that reason before nor do I really want to start. Then I have to make decisions myself constantly about what is "good information" and what is "low quality".

The main solution is for other people to post and upvote better quality information. The fact it only got 2 insightful votes is a good thing, it was basically ignored.

I have a sub suggestion below to allow the community to police it's self.

Decentralized community shaming.

Tel Aviv to suck my Eglin

That's called the downvote, and it didn't work very well on Reddit; shaming is a terrible rhetorical tactic.

I suggest that more people go into the comments to politely explain and debate flaws. The nice thing about SaidIt is that you tend not to be banned for doing that.

Edit: I just read your comment below, and now realise I misread what you are saying.

It's not downvoting. Maybe an American Hasbara AH tag next to the comment that notifies the American Hasbara mods to look into the claim.
It also warns the reader that the info may be suspect.
It would also identify fraudulent posts that Shills are boosting up the list.

Could you add a kind of "trash" (functionally downvote) button, hidden away in the "report" section? One that had transparency of use. That way, the community can delete it, and if people are misusing this then the policy can be reviewed.

I don't know, though; this is a really, really tricky problem.

Interesting idea, I'll consider it.

It honestly is. I think it's the problem of the decade, as far as the internet is concerned. I bet books had a similar problem when the printing press was invented. So much propaganda masquerading as real information, and so hard to tell what is what.

How about a button so we can ignore these ignorant racists and their submissions ?

I don't think that would be a good idea, because then we would be living in a small fortress inside a wider, manipulated Saidit.

If we can't ignore the people attacking the site, we're forced to confront them. I think having a way of visually distinguishing the "ignored" stuff is good, though, so we can manually ignore it.

Not a bad idea. I'll have to think about the details of that one.

Still thinking? Should I make a post on /s/IdeasForSaidit?

On reflection, I don't think many people would use that feature. I could be wrong though, feel free to post it up to saiditideas and see what others think?

Posted. https://saidit.net/eqn/

Also, https://saidit.net/ciz is an example of people wanting the feature.

We might add an ignore button, you're the 2nd to suggest it in the last few days.
