I support Jason in this endeavor because it is what these people do to us (stifle, censor, ban, pilpul). It's fair to dispense a degree of their own medicine. That being said, this isn't personal to "socks" per se, but is how I feel on the dynamic of debate at hand (there is none). Fair's fair. While I am at it, meaning no personal offense and inquiring only for the action of curiosity, u/socks are you of the Hebrew ethnicity? Thanks for everyones kindness and sympathy in dealing with what we are.

So you support the person who is responsible for stifling, censoring, banning and reducing activities in the Chat? And you do this because - when he bans users without any provocation - he's givign them a taste of their own medicine? I noted that I've not banned him. I don't know of anyone else banning him. To my knowledge, no one is restricting his free speech. This is the reason for my post. It's odd that I have to explain this. I also don't know why you mention ethnicity. Is Saidit restricting certain ethnicities? I also don't know why you'd mention that anyone is dealing with "what we are". The point is simple: allow free speech in the Chat?

Those who act to disrupt the free speech of others must never be allowed to claim free speech for themselves. This is the Paradox of Tolerance.

Two problems:

You refer here to Jason, who is banning users.

The paradox is BECAUSE the freedom of speech is allowed for extremists who would however limit the freedom of speech of others. It would not be a paradox if one could limit the freedom of speech of extremists (with the exception of calls to violence &c). More info, here.

You realize it applies to you, right?

Hopefully you realize who is disrupting free speech and what the Paradox of Tolerance is. This is clearly explained.

You're disrupting speech, but you know that already.

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Did I ban anyone? Did I disrupt anyone? Was that the reason to ban me? It's really simple, Chipit. Please think before you suggest that disagreement should be banned because it's 'disrupting'.

You deliberately disrupt and derail honest conversations all the time. It's not some mistake.

Repeating the same attacks doesn't make them true.

I really don't know what relevance that chat has. Now, I'm not saying that YOU are what "they are"; but you damn well know what I mean by phrasing as such. Its reached that point. "They" are unethically, immorally and offensively engaging in conflict and confrontation, I don't care what the fuck CNN says; I've never seen so much mental distress and economic disparity and THAT SIR, is what "THEY" are all about, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Perhaps for a different discussion. Nothing in this post or thread addresses the 'other', 'they', 'them', 'we', 'us', or CNN. At issue is the Chat, free speech, Saidit engagement, and the prohibition of free speech by JasonCarswell, and thus the continued reduction of activity on Saidit.
