Welcome new Saidit Content Admins!

Today we welcome our new content admins for saidit. They will help keep saidit clean and keep illegal activity off of saidit so we can remain online for a long time to come.

If you would like to be a content admin, please PM me, as we are looking to have a robust team of 10+ people so that each person only has to work a few minutes a day. The more people we have, the easier it is for each person.

Anyway, please welcome our new content admins, and give them a big thanks for taking the time and effort to want to help improve saidit! It's a big deal that each of these people decided to step up when it was needed. Here are our new content administrators:

Just yesterday d3rr fixed a bug that affected only admins (thanks d3rr!) and now we're going to add the new content admin users in the software settings within 24 hours.

To the new content administrators,

Thank you for your help.

The workload should be relatively light, especially with so many people helping so frequently, so don't expect to need to do a lot right away, the long-term results over the next few months and doing it regularly is what's important. And remember, we don't want to change how saidit works from the perspective of an average user, we just want to continue forward on the legacy that we've already built, so consistency of enforcement of the rules is key. Follow the content admin FAQ and the saidit rules as closely as possible when you are acting as content admin, and please don't improvise or act subjectively.

If you see any fellow content administrator violating the content admin rules repeatedly, please quickly notify /u/magnora7 and link to the relevant sub log that shows the removals that should not have occurred. All actions from content admins are recorded publicly in the log for each sub, so everyone can see every content admin action.

If in doubt about anything, ignore it or ask /u/magnora7 and we can come up with a good game plan, or add your questions to the FAQ. Good luck to everyone, and thank you again for offering your time to help the saidit community.

Thanks for the trust, M7. My condolences to my fellow janitors. Instead of seeing this as unpaid work I'd like to think of it as service to Saidit, a place I have come to love.

Yeah! And each content admin might only remove 1 to 5 things a day and that's it. And maybe some days even nothing at all. And that'd be great. With 14 people on the team including me, hopefully it'll be very easy for each person as long we are all regular about it.

Sounds great. I like your attitude, this is a service to a community. It's just something that needs done for this place to survive and thrive, and it honestly warms my heart to see you and the other people on our list step up to help out this community we've all built over the last 3.5 years. It shows how much people value saidit as a community resource, which is what saidit has been for since the beginning. I think we are all looking forward to a spam-free and legal saidit that will last for many years to come!

Admins are going to

  1. Remove spam posts. Good. Love it.

  2. Make judgement calls on every post re the "Pyramid of Debate". Not good. This rule falls WAY short on the subject of free speech. I for one would rather have someone call me names than have their post removed. That way I know THAT user. I can handle trolls. What I can't handle is censorship. Every post removed brings me a HUGE STEP closer to deleting my account and walking away.

If they are good admin they will allow mods to make most of those POD calls. I'm still calling on /u/Magnora7 to strongly consider writing in some type of loose exception on the POD for religion, art, memes, humor and non political content. Human communication is more complicated than a POD and if admin doesn't have lite hands with the censorship they will destroy what remains of this small site.

Couldn't agree more. On the site level there should be almost zero censorship IMO. At the subverse level though censorship is almost impossible to avoid due to the nature of weaponize (often paid) trolling operations. Trolls will ruin all attempts at healthy communication if you remove all censorship.

Any content admin who enforces the rules in a way they're not already being enforced will be removed. So from the perspective of an average user, nothing should change. And if it does, contact me so I can remove the content admin who is abusing their role.

I hope you have a fair, open, transparent, peaceful, accountable, consistent, honest social media management system in place, including 1) a way to quickly, easily, openly deal with the very rare and very problematic fringe cases of well-liked or long-term users and rule-abiding sealion shills, 2) a way to quickly, easily, openly show how you came to your decisions, including the case evidence, and 3) a way to quickly, easily, openly report when users want a retrial or open discussion on the matter if there's room for doubt - because it's inevitable that these will come up and only the truth can clear away doubt and questions.

As much as we might like to have a perfect team of admins, the likelihood is that there will be poor decisions and/or abuses, so preemptively addressing these potential issues is in all of our best interests. We can all help weed out those not fit and better support those who are.

IMO, these issues are almost as critical as having the admins lighten the load now, but in the long term will be far more important to steer the future rise or decline in SaidIt quality.
