I get a bit more communication from Larry than from magnora7. Optimus, and the others have been silent too. I have no idea what's going on with our indie-server on my old box. I ask the same questions and get few answers. I think we have grand plans, yet I have no clue what's going on. I'm wondering if we're even on the same page. I'm okay with things taking as long as it takes, but not being in the dark. Plus I only asked for things asap: 1) set up a simple stable Linux server (I've forgotten all the Linux I ever knew 22-26 years ago), 2) set up wiki, 3) set up Lenny, and critically 4) let me access the drive space from my Win7 (I'm crazy tight for space). Everything else is bonus without hurry. So far we only have one and a half. It took a few weeks but the server is up. The wiki is installed somewhere unconventional but it works. Larry wanted to install a non-decentralized phpBB forum to be his own project and I haven't heard a peep from him for days since. I'm not even sure what his terms or plans were, or how he was going to moderate it. I can't get a domain name to connect through my router to the server. The wiki not being accessible to the world is not critical as there is a lot of wiki-related geekery to learn and apply and of course content to draft up, and then it can be announced. Maybe I should fund-raise to buy a couple decent server boxes, a dedicated fiber line, and some local sysadmin help to guarantee results. fschmit is eager to throw money at development but he has no time for it and I don't code, couldn't knowledgeably manage that project, nor do I know any who can. Perhaps I can find someone local to help. I'm starting to think I need to tap my local resources more where people may be more reliable in person with names I know and faces I can measure up. I don't like being pushy or demanding but I don't think I've been asking too much. Yes it's all generously volunteered I.T., but herding cats with one and a half cats is not much of a movement. I'm considering quitting or something. I'm pissy and need more sleep. Maybe I just need to focus on the wiki content for a while.

Sounds like you have too many projects. I think you need to make the lenny instance work first and then build around that. If one thing works well then people will enjoy using it. It will grow and volunteer programmer help will come. Do one thing well and let everything flow from that.

was the outage caused by DoS attack, or just forgot to pay bill (I can't figure out whether they are joking in the discussion above)?

there've been a lot of outages of alt-sites recently over course of a few weeks (way longer for snew). saidit, conspiracies.win, snew.notabug .

Today i noticed the privacy twitter client seems to have been hit by hackers: nitter.cc , nitter.net both very kaputt

one can luckily still find many functioning instances, eg nitter.pussthecat.org

The first outage was because of 'unpaid' bills or something similar. Mag7 explained it further in a post a few days later. I haven't been on here in a while and wasn't aware that saidit was down again. I have my own suspicions and some reddit threads let me deeper into the rabbit hole.

No problem. Can't say I haven't wondered if something fishy's going on, but it could be another missed bill. The site's not run by many people, lots could go wrong that isn't necessarily nefarious. No word from anyone yet. :/
