Respectfully, I think an alternative to Saidit would be to convince /u/magnora7 to add a dozen admins in different global time zones who can quickly hide or delete spam posts, while also actively looking for accounts that are upvoting items to the front page with the 8 8 votes &c (one can see these vote histories). It would be free, would engage more people in the site, and if anyone feels that her/his post was unjustly hidden or removed, they could appeal the process. It would be quick to implement (in a week or so) and require not much admin for the current admins (unless you select a bad admin that you have to remove later). Because there are only 1 or 2 active admins here, and the spam & spam upvotes are constantly carpeting the front page, hardly anyone is motivated to invest their time in the site, and the site will continue to have low numbers in /r/all. Allow a dozen admins from different global time zones, have them agree to a strict set of basic rules, and easily remove admini privileges if they goof-up. Promblem #1 for a "free speech" site is that it is easily overrun by lunatics (eg. MAGAtards) who are obsessed with their agendas (I think /u/magnora7 alluded do this a few months ago; and I think this is why he's also avoided the site). This can be managed with the help of admins.

convince /u/magnora7

Good luck with that. He has zero interest in fair, open, accountable, consistent, nor honest social management systems. He's coasting. Besides, you can't even convince folks that you're not a shill or that vaccines are good for you.

He only wants people to participate on his terms and within his limits. Anyone gets too motivated and he shits on them as he can't get past his ego and cooperate. But he can serve his chosen purpose and play whack-a-troll to filter out all the STABs for the rest of the federation, many of which will be invite-only like my instance. I'll let new users prove themselves on SaidIt first, then invite them. Others may choose to play whack-a-troll if they like too.

Worth stating/repeating: I won't be "stealing users" from SaidIt as the goal is to have the federation interact with SaidIt as well, like anyone else in the federation.

From over a decade of Burning Man experience I can tell you that managing volunteers is like herding cats. You're time-zone idea sounds good but won't work well - though it'd be better than nothing. Add a paycheck, crypto, or rewards, and that's a different story.

Fuck immature idiots and their "free speech". I want cooperation, truth-seeking, minimal governance, and a say in our systems for fairness and liberty without exploitation. Freedom means living together with people under rules that you and they choose together. Freedom is secondary to choosing the rules that you can get other people to agree to. See also, this.
