Amelia isn't a bad person. Look at the moderation log, all I see is ironleft nazi stuff removed.

Edit: oh fuck her stance on prohibition of course but besides that.

[–]bobbobbybob[S] 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (5 children)

all you see is (a side in a debate) being silenced?

gee, great. who doesn't love a comfy echo chamber?

did you go and have a look at what he removed? lots of it was just interesting.

[–][deleted] 6 insightful - 3 fun6 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

She removed my stuff. That's blasphemy. So I ain't happy about what she did either but it's done and she's just removing spam now. I do want someone removing spam.

I'm glad you posted this, there's stuff here I didn't realize like a limit of 8 posts a day. Pretty sure when I go on my song binges I break that.

[–]AnarchySpeach 4 insightful - 5 fun4 insightful - 4 fun5 insightful - 5 fun -  (2 children)

Ah. Fuck it. I'm probably gonna regret this later.

What in particular did you see that should've remained up?

[–]bobbobbybob[S] 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

there have been a whole lot of random things. Some posts on antifa (those were very pro antifa), some posts on weaponising social media (there were three of those that vanished, and they were ultra interesting) and the last one was a post by one of the loonies that was explaining how the [removed] and [deleted] labels tell you who deleted the post - an admin (removed) or the user themselves (deleted).

I understand that there is a belief by the admins that they are under attack, so they may just be mass censoring all content by users they decide are attacking the site, but the whole attack has been created by malicious administration in the first place. Its spiraling out of control. I tested it by making a user and posting some random things i found interesting. gone within 24 hours. no reason why. One of them had even had quite a bit of discussion on it. I deleted the user so can't show you, but its real. try it, I guess.

That's why the censoring of the post that let users know about the [removed] censorship clue was the last straw. I've just seen far too much heavy handed censorship in the last couple of months

I'm with you on all of this, as I often am half the time.

But you won't see this because you blocked me and will never know I've responded. Which is why the block function as it currently stands is shitty. I could tell lies or prove you're a liar or all sorts of problems could arise from blocking and a complete ignorance of responses. AND I never would have known you had blocked me if you hadn't openly stated it. I would be talking to myself, wasting time and energy better spent elsewhere - but I know readers may see this.

You know Bobbo, I think you're the only person as offended as I was at what happened. I almost quit Saidit over it. I want to emphasize how little I think of anyone deleting my comments and posts. I don't have a long memory though. That was in the long long ago.

[–]AnarchySpeach 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (13 children)

her stance on prohibition of course

Wait. Alcohol prohibition or something else? I need details.

[–][deleted] 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (12 children)

Yeah, fucking alcohol prohibition. Tam thinks it should be illegal. She's gonna have to pry the beer from my cold dead fingers.

[–]AnarchySpeach 6 insightful - 4 fun6 insightful - 3 fun7 insightful - 4 fun -  (11 children)

lmfao.

I guess I'm not the right person to criticize the idea. I think it would be funny to make caffeine off-limits to anyone under 21 and watch the world burn. An addictive chemical that causes 4 days of vomit inducing withdrawal headaches, has a peak point of 45 minutes that ultimately reduces your cognitive ability for several hours afterward, and creates a mild euphoric rush when ingested, yet we sell it to kids. Still sounds weird to me.

Personally, I find a strong drink relaxing after spending a day getting yelled at. The idea that I could go weeks hating life, sober, without alcohol... Yeahno. Hell no. The idea gives me a panic attack just thinking about it. Fuck that. There's not a thing in the world that would make me change my mind.

I honestly have trouble understanding how some people dislike it.

[–][deleted] 5 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 3 fun -  (2 children)

Oh man, I quit caffeine years ago because of my blood pressure. It's disgusting how awake people are in the morning. It did sort of happen in a way, they changed the legal smoking age in the US to 21 with no grandfather clause so every legal smoker 18-20 one day last year just couldn't legally buy smokes. That messed with a lot of people, nicotine withdrawal sucks too.

after spending a day getting yelled at.

Work? I once had an Office Space esque job with five different bosses. Except they don't all yell at you just for screwing up, they all yelled all the time cause each wanted things done their way so no matter what I did 4 people yelled at me.

I wasn't a day drinker until that job. It was miserable.

I had to (mostly) quit for a year because of my liver. It sucks for the first few months and then mostly it's just boring. I had no illusions I was gonna stay dry longer than I had to. Unfortunately I probably need another break already. Fucking liver. Lost a woman that was really important to me, drank herself to death.

Similar scenario except it's one person with emotional problems and a crappy memory so bad you'd think he was 5 people. Stuck there for another 2 years because of legal crap. At the same time, he wishes he could fire me, but that would require me screwing up first, otherwise I'd leave with $45k, so lol.

drank herself to death.

Yeah, I'm terrified of that. I've managed to pull back to three times a week and making sure to not do them all in a row. Longest I've managed to go was 6 days. I can't wait until I can hang up on him mid-scream, call him back, then hang up again just to let him know he's no longer in control.

[–][deleted] 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Regular blood work is important although you can have end stage chirossis without elevated liver enzymes. A pain in the side seems to be a pretty common indicator something is going wrong. Ultrasound/MRI if you've got good health insurance.

But really I think it's mostly genetic. Some people like me drink heavily for decades before anything goes wrong, my friend who died only drank a pint of vodka a day.

[–]magnora7 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (7 children)

Alcohol personally makes me nauseous and vomit really easily. I don't like feeling like I'm going to puke. 1 or 2 drinks is ok sometimes, but 3+ is always bad news and I always regret it. My stomach just doesn't like alcohol. Also the spins suck, and the dumbing down effects suck and are often paired with a lack of emotional control, which is sometimes not a good or fun thing. I don't think prohibition is the answer though, that clearly didn't work out the first time we tried it.

I'll take my caffeine over that. But you do make some good points about caffeine. Doesn't sound so appealing the way you describe it haha

[–]AnarchySpeach 5 insightful - 4 fun5 insightful - 3 fun6 insightful - 4 fun -  (1 child)

nauseous and vomit really easily

yikes. That sucks.

Also the spins suck, and the dumbing down effects suck and are often paired with a lack of emotional control,

lol those are the reasons I drink the stuff...

The the emotional control part in particular. The power to not care about anything for an hour helps me step back and not panic over every little thing.

The power not to care makes me say stupid shit I regret, didn't really mean to say, and fucks my life up. I don't like my life being more difficult than it needs to be.

But hey, if it works for you, then enjoy. It just doesn't work for me very well. I have a drink about once a month, usually because a friend is drinking too.

But you do make some good points about caffeine.

Ever tried kratom? It's the powdered leaf of a south east Asian tree, and is similar in effect to caffeine, but without the jitters.

[–]magnora7 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

I have heard of it repeatedly but never tried it. There was actually a kratom sub on saidit that was quite active a couple years ago, that was how I learned about it. Is it addictive, are there withdrawals? (compared to caffeine)

[–]Node 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

my reply to jason, with best source link

There is a ton of conflicting information and claims about kratom. I heard about it a few years ago and read many of those. I haven't found it to be addicting at all, and it's been a great caffeine alternative and/or booster for me.

Narcotics addicts claim to be able to stay off the drugs with very large amounts of kratom, and the specific claim is that the large amounts have a narcotic effect, which is opposite the effects of small amounts. (3.5 grams/rounded half tablespoon for me) I don't know if this is true, and I haven't taken large amounts.

I also don't use it everyday, more like 2-4 times per week. I have black tea most days, and coffee 2-4 times per week. The kratom is useful when I need to be more awake or alert, not as an everyday thing like caffeine. Don't want to develop a tolerance, and am cautious about excess reliance on stimulants.

See my other reply for more details.

How long does kratom last? How expensive is it compared to caffeine pills (they're cheap and I don't do coffee)?

https://herbal-rva.com/product/premium-maeng-da/#reviews

$70 for a kilo of powder. This is the best site, price, and quality I've found, but feel free to look around. I first bought small batches locally, and spent double this for just a little bit.

https://otiesbotanicals.com/product-category/green-leaf/ (second best, but their prices have increased)

I take a rounded half tablespoon in water which just weighed out to 3.5 grams, and it lasts a few hours or so. If you're already taking caffeine pills, you should give this a shot. Alternate with the caffeine or have together.

Multiple types and names: It's mostly all marketing. Straight green 'maeng da' (the shit!?) works fine. There is red, yellow, and white, but I'd say ignore.

By the way, it tastes gross. They make capsules, but those are for wusses. Mix it with water and drink it down, then have juice or whatever if you need it. It's a bit hydrophobic, so takes 5 minutes or so to soak/mix into the water.

Narcotics addicts claim "large quantities" give more of a sedation effect, and help them stay off the hard stuff. I have no experience with that. You'll get a whole range of stories and videos about it with an internet search.

Bottom line for me, I like it as a stimulating caffeine alternative, but sometimes have it with caffeine.

Breasts are pornography

Also this. Not sure what TAM has against breasts, but TAM says everyone he/she knows agrees that breasts are pornography.
