I didn't read this but just realised Muskrat dated a 36yr old at 17, and for that he has my respect. When I was 16 I used to mingle with a 24yr old, I was old enough to know the consequences at the time and I don't regret what I did. It was hardly "manipulative", there are some instances where people from different ages just click and shit happens. Though I will say that society seems to give less of a shit when the roles are reversed, as guys are basically seen as down-to-fuck the second they reach their teens, and most of us are tbh.

I looked a lot older at the time too (was basically growing beards since 14) so a lot of people seemed to mistake me for someone older. She did know my age but I definitely didn't look prepubescent or anything. So it's not like she was attracted to me because I looked like a child.

👊 Fuck yeah, I am proud of it. It was a turning point in my life. Before that I thought I'd was just going to be alone forever. She showed me that I was worthy of love. Huge confidence boost.

I had a beard too at the time. Still do, but then too. I still get carded when I shave, pre covid I did anyways.

Glad to hear it man, I also felt similarly at the time. I almost couldn't believe any of it were happening because I was so down and out of it just thinking I'd find nobody up until she appeared.

She wasn't attracted to you because you liked like a child but likely because you were easier to manipulate and keep than an adult.

That's one of the main drivers for paedos who target teens even though they may go on about the looks, they want control of the relationship and thereby over another human being. This is why paedos who target teens are actually more likely to be psychopaths than those who target pre pubescent children so I'm some ways they are more dangerous.

Tbh I think she was just lonely and dumb (very impulsive), I honestly don't think there was any malice behind her intentions. But I ended up leaving her anyway and it (thankfully) didn't negatively impact me either way.

[–]jet199 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

Wanting control often doesn't start with malice but insecurity.

I do agree with what you're saying but it's hard to explain what a relationship was like to someone that never saw it. So like even if she genuinely wasn't trying to manipulate me, it's hard to prove that.

It's hard to rock the prepubescent look when you have a beard.

Didn't I see a post like this the other day? Must have been a victim of the local free speech.

It's a troll who keeps making new accounts to evade a ban from a long time ago.

In the previous instance of this post, /u/TheAmeliaMay mentioned the person was originally banned for something or other, then made 80 more accounts to evade the ban. I suppose that makes the 2 hour old /u/LawAndOdor account the 81st.

Agreed that all opinions should be allowed (even popper).

I wonder - if a banned Redditor flees to Saidit, where would a banned Saiditor flee to? Perhaps create a website called: bannedit.net ?

      Undoubtedly didit.net

      reddit ⇒ saidit ⇒ didit

      [–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

      Or even: diddledit

      [–]Node 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Seems like it would need to maintain the two syllable theme to flow evenly.

      [–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

And didit is better than the banned evangelist apocalyptic Ned Flanders social media group, or okilydokileedit.net

Interesting points, but I doubt this is grounds for banning someone from a site like Saidit. However, to say this:

"pedophilia is pedophilia, and should always be punished with death"

And to spread disinformation and misinformation is spreading hatred on Saidit, and perhaps there should be a 'flair', 'tag' or similar that notes some of these posts are potentially inciting violence. The tag could be 'Inciting Violence?' or similar. After getting a number of these tags, the user could be warned, or worse.

          1. Ban evasion is against site-wide rules

          2. Those votes where from his own accounts, which is also against site-wide rules

          [–]Tom_Bombadil 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (6 children)

And to spread disinformation and misinformation

I nominate SlaveSocksBot for a MSM disinfo/misinfo beta test is his suggestion.

perhaps there should be a 'flair', 'tag' or similar that notes some of these posts

Why not? We'll use another of his suggestions.

Let's bundle the two suggested words appropriately.

          'flair', 'tag'

Bundling the words socks suggested 'flair', and 'tag' into a new word. FAG.

"FAG" is defined as a bundle of sticks.
This is analogous to the bundles of propaganda, disinfo, and misinfo that socks regularly parrots.

Let's see if socks has recently posted disinfo or misinfo.

And to spread disinformation and misinformation is spreading hatred on Saidit

I doubt anyone with a functioning grey cell would ever consider hatred a synonym for disinfo, or misinfo.
          Let's double check:

          https://duckduckgo.com/?q=synonym+hatred&t=brave&ia=web

Well, it appears socks is pushing disinfo.

/u/TheAmeliaMay I have a few suggestion for suitable "fag" icon for slavesocksbot.

          ICON

          [–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

          Learn how to read, Tom.

          I did not NECESSARILY:

consider hatred a synonym for disinfo, or misinfo.

          I said:

...punished with death" And to spread disinformation and misinformation is spreading hatred

Which means that the former 'death' comment, whereever it is relevant in 'disinformation and misinformation', is spreading hatred. ONLY WHERE THE TWO APPROACHES ARE CONNECTED would the tag be issued.

It's not censor, its not banning, it's not equating ALL disinformation and misinformation with hatred. It only considers a violence tag when 'punished with death' suggestions are CONNECTED with disinformation and misinformation.

For example: A convicted rapist murderer is in the news and is to spend time in jail. He/she was found guilty through due process. A comment on Saidit is that he/she should be put to death. Eye for an eye justice &c. This opinion is fine. No tag.

EDIT: Example 2: Trump incited violence against AOC, Pelosi and Pence, among others, and there were members in the mob that were trying to kill all three, and looked for their offices in the Capitol building, nearly breaking into one of the occupied offices (video evidence). We should all march on Trump's residence in Florida and firebomb the place to ashes, killing everyone inside. Who's with me? This opinion is inciting violence against our beloved president and his family. Thus: 'inciting violence' tag.

          [–]Node 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

Which means that the former 'death' comment ... is spreading hatred.

Wanting or asserting the death of an organism doesn't necessitate hatred. Assuming you've killed a mosquito before, did you need to hate that mosquito before murdering it? If you grow your own food, you also don't need to hate it before killing it.

Some people are filled with hate, others are filled with rationality and logic.

          [–][deleted] 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (3 children)

No - I loved the mosquito, which is why it had to die. Although I didn't hate the mosquito, I committed violence against it. If I want the mosquito to be dead, I want it to suffer violence, even if briefly, even if I love the mosquito. Mosquitos who are users on Saidit might think it rather unfair to them if I noted that they should be dead. These mosquitos and I have a right to free speech on Saidit. If however I continue to tell the mosquitos that they should be dead, this sets off a downward spiral for the pyramid of conversation, which Saidit doesn't like. Thus, given that Saidit doesn't like incitements to violence, because of what they do to harm the pyramid of debate, a polite tag with 'Inciting violence?' on a post might remind the person inciting violence that this is not helpful at Saidit.

          [–]Node 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

I continue to tell the mosquitos that they should be dead, this sets off a downward spiral for the pyramid of conversation

Unless the mosquito has a logical argument for why they should not be dead, and in fact their continued unanticipated sucking of your blood is to your benefit.

If they have no valid rebuttal, perhaps you were right.

IDK - I wrote that at 4 am, and now - in the morning - I look at this thread and have no idea why I wrote such a goofy post. If Saidit gets more users, we'll see more rules. I'm not sure I'll remain, but it's important - I keep telling myself - to see alternative approaches.

I never thought my comment would garner this kind of attention. I just really wish people weren't getting banned over it. I don't want people banned because they said the wrong thing, on either side.

I like m7 and Amelia and they both do a lot for this place. I wasn't particularly perturbed by what Amelia said about my ex, it's not like anyone is going to really kill her. I honestly care more she's a prohibitionist, that's a group that is winning more battles than people probably realize.

I do, however, agree the bans are not always handed out equally here.

As a note, username mentions in the post do not notify the people tagged. It has to be in a comment.
