The lightbulb should get brighter with clicks and the smiley face should get smilier with clicks to reinforce the proper meaning of these buttons

Weird that it uses the default icons for dark mode.

Oh probably because they ported the CSS theme from reddit which doesn't have a dark mode, and then just swapped out the icons. They probably have no CSS for dark mode so it just reverts to default

i'm in dark mode, and things already change quite a lot when I click them. is it different normally?

No, but s/deutsch only changes the icons for light mode.
