My opinion is that Saidit will die just like Voat did and here is why. I hope I don't get banned for this - don't shoot the messenger, bro !
This place has no fundamental appreciation of actual free speech. I don't like using the term "free speech" as it's a loaded term, and obviously no sane site can contain 100 percent free speech. But I'm talking about speech that isn't obvious threats, defamation, slander and spam.
You know what my litmus test for a Reddit alternative being pro-free speech is? I just try to see if there's a "jailbait" sub. You know why? Some of you might not know this, but some of you remember.
Jailbait sub did exist on Reddit and it wasn't some obscure sub nor did it contain actual child porn. Actual child porn was deleted, but it contained a lot of beautiful pictures of young girls and was declared a subreddit of the year at least once. It got millions of hits everyday, had like number 2 ranking if you'd google "jailbait". It wasn't some obscure CP sub, it was a huge, well led subreddit.
So, what happened? A huge coalition of SJWs, media and other scum led a war to ban it and they finally did. It wasn't easy. It took almost an year and there was a lot of resistance but they finally managed to do it. That was the beginning of a slippery slope that now turned Reddit into a leftist cesspool where all non-leftist opinions are banned.
Both Voat and now Saidit banned something like v/s Jailbait immediately.
I don't know what Voat allowed as I didn't spend all that much time there but I can see Saidit removing various content for even "praising mass murderers". That is wrong. I should have the right to praise mass murderers all I want. What I don't have the right to do is to say somebody should commit mass murder.
I know, I know, this site is still new, weak, you don't have money, you're walking on thin ground, yadda, yadda, yadda. I get it. I know it's not your fault that you have to compete with a juggernaut like Reddit.
But ultimately you're playing by their rules or, even worse, you think their rules are what is morally good - and what is morally good in that case is no real free speech, no chance to talk about actually sensitive subjects.
Grow some balls. It's tough, I know. But making just another right wing shouting factory will get you nowhere.
So unless you want to grow some balls what makes your site better than Reddit for people who would want to discuss more than just everyday politics? People who want to say things that are actually politically incorrect? Discuss subjects that are actually controversial and allowed here but not on Reddit? I can get banned for saying things that are controversial on Reddit as well. Why would I go here?
