So the moderator left the site and destroyed the group as a parting shot. What an asshole.

His last message is "fuck this site I'm out of here".

Either way it's a dick move to turn off a major subsaidit like oldschoolcool.

He did it to his subs. SaidIt is the community.

I don't agree with his actions, but if he's the mod then...

          What's the point of mods?

          Why have any private subs?

And why is /s/Journalism now private?

We don't know what the reasons actually were, though admittedly it seems personal.

I'd like to set up some bots, sooner or later. /s/SaidItBots was a start to discussion policies, openness, and actual implementation. I'm presently too distracted and need to focus on my main project, among others, so I shouldn't take on more now, otherwise I'd ask to pick you brain.

I don't know enough about SaidIt private subs other than they exist. I'm only on one that you should be on too, /s/WhiteOwlSocialClub that IMO you should be invited to by /u/NPC.

I was mod of /s/Journalism for a while because I was invited though I never knew why specifically other than he wanted backup though I never moderate anyone. I made a banner and applied a CSS to it, but left because of M7's arbitrary limit of 40 subs max. I didn't post much there, but now that censorship is rampant, journalists are being attacked, and corruption is more rampant than ever, it seems a critical sub to post in.

I made it public again and removed him as moderator from that sub

There I fixed it, but I don't know what all subs he used to mod... he apparently made some private or restricted, and then de-modded himself so I don't know what subs those would be... so we'll just have to unlock the rest as they become known. What a dumb hissyfit this guy threw, oh well

What was it about? Apart from him, obviously

Oh did they close them all? That's a shame, I'll reopen them all

              SKB, what did anyone expect?

              [–]JasonCarswell 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

It's his sub. It's magnora7's site so that trumps it, though I don't think he should have.

              /u/SierraKiloBravo ACTUALLY last said:

" Thanks (I think). Coincidentally I decided yesterday to no longer post here because there seems to be little interest in original user created content. Since the last one or two influxes of users Reddit, the front page is a dumpster fire, and even innocuous sounding topics only take minutes to devolve into the same old arguments. I joined up around two years ago and I’m sad to say, it ain’t what it used to be. "

It was hardly "a dumb hissyfit this guy threw", M7.

I don't agree nor disagree, but then, I wasn't dwelling on the front page. However I would agree that the same old arguments are tiresome.

SKB is the mod? We can say that they are an asshole quite correctly, then.

              [–]JasonCarswell 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

He's not an asshole. He's a content creator who got fed up here, justifiably. I'm hoping he comes back.

              [–]JasonCarswell 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Perhaps he couldn't moderate it for a while (ie. vacation, lockdown, etc.). He's only been gone a month.

A similar thing happened to /s/Journalism. Maybe /u/magnora7 can fix that too.

Also, I'm pretty sure /u/rainbow80 is a bot, if folks hadn't noticed already. I was going to post it in /s/SaidIt but I guess I don't need to now.
