Also, FYI, the person who created /s/canada said they did not mind at all that it was "reclaimed" and they remained co-mod.

Also, also, anyone who says they are Canadian has a decent presence on SaidIt (isn't an asstroll) will be invited to co-mod /s/canada regardless of political affiliation. Currently there are 6 mods, some left, and others have been invited and not accepted or declined.

I think it's fair to say that re-modding /s/canada is one of a few scant cases were drama is impossible. But maybe I'm just being an typical American and stereotyping.

We can't just pile on re-modding subs to the list of stuff to do for /u/magnora7. Mostly because knowing our luck one of these so called 'mods' will come back from their 700 day hiatus and then bitch out Mags for being a tyrant and how unfair it is.

I was hoping that more of us regulars would chime in on this to help elaborate on how we would like to see this handled. I listed my concerns and threw two random ideas out there and only got one comment of approval and a handful of insightful and fun marks. /u/jasoncarswell, /u/diogenesjunior, and I can't be the only ones wanting to discuss this. And the sooner we come up with something the sooner we can organize and build up this place for the better.

" We can't just pile on re-modding subs to the list of stuff to do for /u/magnora7. "

This is untrue.

M7 choses to run his site as he sees fit. I'm not denying that. However, recognizing that he has an odious burden I and many others have offered many alternative ideas to help him out, including him choosing to set up democratic reviews on bad actors, delegating responsibilities to trusted and capable people, etc. (I'm not interested in these roles but I am interested in improving SaidIt.) He chooses to carry his burdens alone rather than share them.

Re-modding subs is a very minor thing compared to running the rest of SaidIt. 1) Check the sub's history. 2) Check the mod's history. If they're both inactive for X amount of time (ie. 6 months, 12 months, etc.) then 3) Check the asking candidate's history (for asstrollery). 4) Add them.

The /s/canada founder came back and was fine with it. If necessary SaidIt can add an official policy to explain this new process. There are much worse things to bitch out Mags for. For example, not providing or endorsing a forum to discuss democratic changes to SaidIt - such as your views on adding mods vs my view. M7 doesn't want any democracy on SaidIt, not even for us to discuss it among ourselves and collectively present it for his consideration, approval, and/or veto. Yet, he's still open to being persuaded on some things.

Agreed. You aren't.

Perhaps you can create /s/SaidItTownSquare for a centralized discussion place on the policies and such.
