I think it's fair to say that re-modding /s/canada is one of a few scant cases were drama is impossible. But maybe I'm just being an typical American and stereotyping.

We can't just pile on re-modding subs to the list of stuff to do for /u/magnora7. Mostly because knowing our luck one of these so called 'mods' will come back from their 700 day hiatus and then bitch out Mags for being a tyrant and how unfair it is.

I was hoping that more of us regulars would chime in on this to help elaborate on how we would like to see this handled. I listed my concerns and threw two random ideas out there and only got one comment of approval and a handful of insightful and fun marks. /u/jasoncarswell, /u/diogenesjunior, and I can't be the only ones wanting to discuss this. And the sooner we come up with something the sooner we can organize and build up this place for the better.

    Congrats!

As an atheist, I'll be happy to see more there. I find it to be the lowest of the skeptics fruit, easy enough to understand that there are no invisible pink unicorns.

IMO, you shouldn't leave, just co-mod. If they ask you to leave, maybe consider it, but also consider why they must dominate it.

I encourage anyone (except asstrolls) to co-mod my subs, though few have accepted, and even fewer have even asked.

Depends what you mean - I consider subs as "topics" (ie. metatags) and/or "communities" - but above all SaidIt is my community.

Oh, interesting. And funny. I just PM'd that bot to say The Great Flood of atheist posts will be too much to be noticed here. Either they'll be passed over or ignored. If it's like spam people may ask you to remove /s/Atheism from the SaidIt front page. Perhaps you can make the bot only post the top trending posts from Reddit rather than all of them? Perhaps M7D3 might help you if needs be.

Also, importantly, I recommend you make a couple changes. Just as you've created /u/Atheism, I recommend you create /u/Atheism_Bot for your bot. Also add to the sidebox of your /s/Atheism something about the automated process from Reddit. People will appreciate the open transparency and deal with it as they see fit (ie. ignore, recognize and acknowledge, accept, not respond to a bot, protest to M7, applaud to M7, whatever). If you were to do so I'd be the first to raise this up as a perfect example of how to use bots properly on SaidIt - and I'd praise you to /u/magnora7 and /u/d3rr.

I'm definitely more of a fan of the activity requirement to maintain mod control. Elections are admittedly going to be messy and probably be useless overall.

" We can't just pile on re-modding subs to the list of stuff to do for /u/magnora7. "

          This is untrue.

M7 choses to run his site as he sees fit. I'm not denying that. However, recognizing that he has an odious burden I and many others have offered many alternative ideas to help him out, including him choosing to set up democratic reviews on bad actors, delegating responsibilities to trusted and capable people, etc. (I'm not interested in these roles but I am interested in improving SaidIt.) He chooses to carry his burdens alone rather than share them.

Re-modding subs is a very minor thing compared to running the rest of SaidIt. 1) Check the sub's history. 2) Check the mod's history. If they're both inactive for X amount of time (ie. 6 months, 12 months, etc.) then 3) Check the asking candidate's history (for asstrollery). 4) Add them.

The /s/canada founder came back and was fine with it. If necessary SaidIt can add an official policy to explain this new process. There are much worse things to bitch out Mags for. For example, not providing or endorsing a forum to discuss democratic changes to SaidIt - such as your views on adding mods vs my view. M7 doesn't want any democracy on SaidIt, not even for us to discuss it among ourselves and collectively present it for his consideration, approval, and/or veto. Yet, he's still open to being persuaded on some things.

" I can't be the only ones wanting to discuss this. And the sooner we come up with something the sooner we can organize and build up this place for the better. "

          Agreed. You aren't.

Perhaps you can create /s/SaidItTownSquare for a centralized discussion place on the policies and such.

Sorry, I'm getting a bit ranty. I need to clarify myself.

"M7 choses to run his site as he sees fit." I have no disagreements here.

My comment was going more for saying that we as a user base of this site shouldn't be entitled and shoulder our expectations onto /u/magnora7. He is open and receptive to ideas from the community but this only works if we put them out here in this sub and discuss them. I just want to encourage us to lay out thoughts and ideas; good, bad, and ugly. Then dig through all the muck and see if there is a tiny gem of something that is worth consideration. If we waste a thread and come up with nothing at the end, well, at least we tried. There is plenty of room in this sub to do this and I feel we don't need another thread for this.

If this has been brought up before then I apologize and am willing to put this aside.
