I don't know anything about this, but I've thought the same. My hypothesis: there's lots of people who made an account to check out the scene, get automatically subscribed to a number of subs, didn't find what they were looking for, and don't log on again. But their unused phantom account is still there in the sub reader numbers.

This might be totally off track, but it's what I think at the moment.

Just Default subs that new users are subbed to automatically.

How can I see what subs count as "default"? What is the process for becoming a "default" sub?

Every sub you are subbed to when you create an new account are default. Idk, I guess the admin choose them.

Always how it goes. Particularly when certain groups that push a certain kind of propaganda get bored. Especially after the block feature was introduced, they seem to have immediately jumped ship. Not counting the people who jumped ship because of all the propaganda spam from the aforementioned people.

The core problem with trying to host any kind of website is always the first part. It can take years or even a decade before anything can grow. Often times it just won't. Because, no matter how shitty something is, "that's where all the people are".

Maybe auto-unsub accounts that don't look at or post to a sub over a certain length of time. 1 month? 3 months? or..?

This.

Also, do the /s/saidit admins check the threads like this for ideas or is there a separate area for submissions?
