Hm yeah that's a good idea, /u/d3rr is there a way we can disable posting for people with zero karma for a little bit? They're literally posting 20 times a minute to https://saidit.net/new/

I don't think there's a way to disable posting entirely right now. This is supposed to handle it:

MIN_RATE_LIMIT_KARMA = 1
MIN_RATE_LIMIT_COMMENT_KARMA = 1

I was pretty sure it was the ice_poseidon guy who is causing us all this trouble, and today I saw this: https://ip2network.win/p/Gv1d4X9M/ice-made-it-clear-days-ago-he-wa/c/

He has the linode acceptable use policy page in his bookmark bar, right next to the cloudflare abuse report link, also bookmarked in his toolbar. That basically completely confirms it's him doing the attacks.

oh wow. well I certainly hope this doesn't happen in the future with another sub.

I told the server company we removed /s/ice_poseidon2 and all related subs as per our agreement. And then it's been an hour and they didn't respond at all, which is weird for them. And so I just sent another message re-confirming that we have removed all the material as per our agreement, and it's been 15 mins and they still haven't responded.

The deadline is in about 3 hours. If linode does us real dirty they may not respond and just let it expire... so maybe we should prepare for that possibility. Make backups of everything right now please

okay. I'll turn off the IP2 redirect for a while too, so the host can see the ban message.

No wonder they weren't responding, I told them it would show a ban message. The fact we just linked forward shows we condone the content and now we look like fools to the server company and they may kick us out over it...

It's off now. Sorry man I tried to get approval from you for this.

I thought you asked for a link in the ban message, and that's what I did basically. Anyway, what's done is done, hopefully linode sees the ban message now

I asked for 2 things. I should have told you when I did the redirect. I assumed you would notice. Anyway fuck today and DMCA this is so sad.

Ok thanks for turning it off.

IP2 redirect? what? The ban message is the only thing that should be showing.

When did you turn on that on?

[–][deleted] 5 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

I have a cloud flare redirect in place, check it

[–][deleted] 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

I tuned it on 15m after the ban.

if linode does the dirty, bring back IP2 on another host and start actions against the troll

[–]magnora7 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

Yeah me too. I think it probably won't happen with another sub because he is only doing this to protect his streaming revenue, so he really only cares about the communities making him look bad. Plus our other subs don't really break the AUP like IP2 did, so that will protect us too.
