u/buttbhttinator pointed out how OP is telling people of left ideology to leave the site so most likely when they say bullshit they are talking about people who disagree with their political beliefs. You should definitely make your sub! The more subs and content we have the more the site will grow! Would you mind if I inquired about what hobby?

I want to create an alternative fashion sub. I just can't decide if I should make it more specific, or more general. I dabble in multiple styles and it would be cool to have a central place with all kinds of inspo.

Fashion communities tend to be jsut a little bit callous to outsiders who don't understand yet, and newbies who get their feelings easily hurt and can't handle that just because they want to be wearing a certain fashion, their first attempt doesn't quite make it. A lot of groups tend to become hugboxes which I want to avoid, but I also want to avoid toxic posts that bring people down about their looks, bodies, etc. Also certain types of alt fashion inherently clash, and sometimes fetishists try to co-opt innocent fashions. I would like it to not become a sub taken over by those types of people either... So I guess I'm not really sure how to balance free posting and keeping order.

That sounds awesome! I can't speak much to fashion as it's something that always sort of escaped me a bit. I think general would be the way to go at the start since the site is small and you can make a second more specific sub later. You could enforce rules and general guidelines about not body shaming people. I'm afraid I can't offer tons of advice as I'm not much into fashion but I encourage you to make the sub! Just try and post lots and try to draw some more people. To discourage hug boxes you could also put a guideline perhaps for posters to be more open to constructive criticism so long as it is constructive. Maybe you could use flairs to separate people who are looking for constructive criticism and those looking just to share their fashion. Hopefully I was of some help :)

Okay I did the thing! There is now s/AlternativeFashion . I really hope more people join even if they aren't into wearing it themselves. I have no idea how to promote this sub so fingers crossed.

Thank you for the encouragement!
