Why do we have Insightful/funny over Upvote/Downvote

You should check the welcome to SaidIt section of the website, they explain it there. Here is an excerpt I copied for you: "Having two types of upvotes also means that you can sort posts and comments by fun or insightful. This is a system that slashdot used to great success and we're excited to try it out in a saidit-like environment. You can use the 'fun' or 'insightful' tabs on the main page to out the sorts for each type of upvote.

If you think something doesn't belong on saidit, you can ignore it or if it's really bad you can 'report' it and this will flag it for the sub moderator to take a look at it."
