Yeah I'm super happy they got all their tech issues sorted out. I went there yesterday though and was kind of saddened by the vibe compared to a few weeks ago. It was more neutral and random a few weeks ago, now it's kind of a stream of similar information and memes without a lot of depth. It's okay, and they might be able to balance it out later somehow, but now that they've solved the tech problem they have to solve the cultural-hijacking problem. I think not having downvotes is crucial to that, and one thing I really am happy we did for saidit. Having downvotes makes the hivemind feedback loop happen much faster, and just like voat, ruqqus is seeing the effects of that I think. It's not all bad, I was just surprised to see the quickness of the change though. Saidit has undergone similar changes though at times, so I understand and I wish them the best. It's tough to balance everything. I am so glad we don't have downvotes though.

I think you're right. I also like the smiling emoji next to every comment. It might not seem like much but stuff like this has an impact over time. It really does.

I keep saying this. Not having downvotes is the best thing that can happen to a site.
You won't be able to simply downvote my statistic without saying why it's wrong. It's a great thing.

They need to make it easier to find guild topics I'm interested in. Sorting by popularity is just... bad.

Someone had the idea to sort subs by the ones with the newest posts or comments, that'd be kind of cool.

I think browsing subs by new is the best way to find new stuff. But yeah popular is kind of borked because the subscription numbers don't mean all that much because we auto-subscribed everyone to every sub for the first year or two when we small, to make sure people wouldn't miss any content. But after we stopped that, the subscriber numbers remain, so maybe we need a new algorithm by which to sort popular

Thats what I thought at first, until I realised new is just a stream of the same damn memes being reposted over and over.

(Referring to Ruqqus, not Saidit)
