Why did saidit just go down? Was it just server overload?

Yeah there is a huge surge of traffic right now, we just set an all-time record for most unique hourly visitors at 12,270 visitors in one hour, compared to a normal 3,000. I'm having to tweak our firewall to keep things running, but it's smoothing out. We had about 12 minutes of total downtime I think

    I don't know what happened, but I am amazed how much faster saidit is for me. Everything loads fast again and feels snappy on my laptop. They added so much BS into the UI on Reddit. I was even able to sign up without e-mail. That is so nice, like back in the days when they didn't want an e-mail or phone number for everything. Why does everybody want an e-mail now? Just let me choose if I want an e-mail for recovery or such. There is no technical need for e-mail, like all the big companies pretend. Everything is nice again here. So far, I fucking love this place. I want the old Internet back.

    Also, RIP Aaron Schwartz. Only the good die young. All the evil seem to live forever.
