    I agree. It's on ALL of us to remain vigilante to abuses like this and to call them out. Thanks to the OP for bringing this info and raising our collective awareness.

    I don't see him creating the alts. Restricting registration by ip addy would probably help.

    Yeah and also can you make something to detect if a post has been upvoted multiple times by the same IP within a short period of time and make those votes not count to the total. Would be great if you could make it so new users aren't able to send links in private messages too.

    there should be ways of stemming people from creating multiple alts whether it be via a limit of accounts per IP, or making Email verification a mandatory thing.

    The admins have posted in the past about the idea of having people write something each time they want to sign up and it would have to be approved, or something like that. I forget exactly how they were considering having it work but it sounded like it would make it take more effort to create an account without doing the email thing.

    The email thing is not very effective anyway, imo. It's not hard to get a throwaway email account.
