Over the last week or so we've made a few updates to the site. We softened the daymode background color to be a bit easier on the eyes, thanks for the suggestion /u/pitterpatterwater
We also moved the "submit a new link" and "create a sub" buttons to be above the chat, rather than below it. That was another good user suggestion. And I also fixed an issue with the "create a sub" button being in an odd position when viewing a sub.
I also removed the "account activity" button which was below the chat, since that page was essentially non-functional. I also got rid of the dust-filled "trophy case" in the user profiles.
Lastly we patched up an issue with the chat that was causing it occasionally to freeze when it hit a certain number of users and would require a manual reset. We found a good workaround to automate this process so the chat shouldn't randomly freeze anymore.
/u/d3rr and I also resolved a tricky bug where the "show context" button in the messages page randomly wouldn't load the .json data. This ended up being a bug in the original open source reddit code. d3rr also created a place to discuss the reddit open source in case any new sites wanted to follow a similar path as saidit: https://www.reddit.com/r/RedditAlternatives/comments/8h727f/announcing_rredditopensource/
Overall, a bit cleaner and easier on the eyes, fuller functionality, and hopefully a little less sporadic downtime with the chat too.
Coming soon: The 'controversial' tab will be renamed the 'funny' tab to better represent the content there.
Saidit also hit 800 registered usernames, as well as just today breaking in to the top 1 million most-visited sites in the world according to Alexa rankings. It's great to see all the activity here! Thank you to everyone who has been participating and helping saidit grow in to something we can all be proud of.
